With the internet growing at an estimated 65% every year, more and more writers are turning to the web to help launch their career in writing. Before you join the ever-growing number of online writers, here are a few do’s and don’ts to consider:

The Writing Do’s:

1. Do join a writing community to find people that share your same passion for writing. The initial fear you may experience is a small price to pay for the feedback, encouragement, friends and following you will make online.

2. Do edit your writing. Too many writers are afraid to edit their poem, article or story because they feel it somehow takes away from the raw emotion. Editing is simply a tool used to turn your art into a masterpiece. Use it to make your writing the best it can be.

3. Do use proper grammar. You may not know the difference between who and whom but many writers, readers and editors do. As a writer, it’s important that you have a solid grasp on grammar. Don’t be afraid to buy a book or two to brush up on it.

4. Do pay attention to your spelling. There is nothing more unprofessional than reading a poem or story filled with spelling errors. Every word processor has a spell-check (as do most writing sites) so make use of them before posting your writing online.

5. Do research the subject you are writing about. Everyone is entitled to an opinion but if yours is based on zero knowledge of the subject, it is not very interesting or useful to readers. Make sure you know what you are talking about before putting it down on paper.

6. Do take time to work on presentation. Make sure your stanza’s/paragraphs are neat and spaced out. Boldface any sub-titles and select a font face, size and color that is readable.

7. Do read and review writing by other writers. You can learn a great deal through reading and reviewing, not to mention, the review is often reciprocated.

8. Do develop a better understanding of the different writing types and genres so that you can accurately classify your own writing. Perhaps the difference between an article and column doesn’t mean anything to you, but it does to most writers and editors and will simply shine an unprofessional light on you if they find your article listed as a column or your short-story listed under poetry.

9. Do read up on copyright laws. The moment you create a piece of writing, you own the copyright to it but it is a good idea to register it with your federal Copyright Office. Make sure you have at least a basic understanding of the copyright laws in your country.

10. Do write often! As they say, practice makes perfect. The more you write, the better you will get.
The Writing Don’ts:

1. Don’t plagiarize writing (fully or in part) and attempt to pass it off as your own. It is not only in poor taste to steal someone else’s intellectual property but it’s also illegal and can lead to law suits and other legal action against you. If you want to be a writer, then write!

2. Don’t ignore punctuation. Since the reader cannot hear your voice or see your facial expression, proper punctuation helps clarify the meaning in your sentences and also instructs the reader when to pause or stop. With such fierce competition amongst writers online, it can make all the difference in your writing.

3. Don’t assume every writer on the internet wants to steal your writing. The vast majority of writers take pride in their writing and are looking to make a name for themselves and showcase their own writing (not steal yours). Warning/threatening other writers against this without proof that the thought even entered their mind screams “I am an amateur”.

4. Don’t review writing recklessly. Most writing sites require you to post a certain number of reviews or earn points in order to write on the site and so you will often be faced with the challenge of reviewing poetry and other writing pieces. Do so respectfully, sensitively and always try to offer constructive advice. You should comment on the quality, style and content of the writing and steer clear of critiquing the author as a person.

5. Don’t be afraid to experiment with your own writing style or even try writing from a different point of view. You won’t know what works for you unless you try it.

6. Don’t be afraid to write a bad poem/article/story. We are all guilty of at least one of those at some point and it’s usually a blessing in disguise. You can only grow through mistakes.

7. Don’t get discouraged by criticism. When exposing yourself online, you will most likely come into criticism every now and then. Not everyone will love everything your write and that is okay. Learn to take criticism with a grain of salt. Take the parts that you feel are constructive and can help improve your writing and disregard the rest.

8. Don’t be too verbose in your writing, especially when writing poetry. The essence of a good poem is the ability to convey a deep and memorable message using a short amount of words. Anyone can describe the beauty of the sun using a full page of text but only a good writer can do it in 6 lines. The same can be said about stories and articles–no one wants to read the never-ending story. Get the point across and move on!

9. Don’t ignore style. Showcase your own voice and personality without alienating your reader. Research various writing styles made famous by published writers by reading articles, novels and poems. It is through reading and observing that you will be able to learn and develop your own style that might someday make YOU famous.

Weather conditions vary by season. With each seasons change it’s good to be prepared for the next. Being at home makes the seasons easier to withstand, but not everyone has this luxury. Professional truck drivers do not have the option of sleeping at home every night if the winter gets too cold or the summer gets too hot. Their trucks become their home on cross country trips. For this reason, making the truck cab as comfortable as possible is a must. Avid Rvers often deal with extreme weather while traveling as well, but often have power at the campground they chose. Luckily there are products available to help ensure comfort during the rougher months of the year.

The summer season is known to most for the heat it brings. Staying cool during these longer days can be a challenge. Often times putting down the window is not enough. Plus, when driving at highway speeds with the window down, everything not bolted down is known to fly around the vehicle or fly right out the open window. For people with long hair, whole other arrays of annoyances occur when the windows are all the way down. A simple solution to all the headaches hot weather can bring are portable fans.

A 12 volt fan plugs directly into your cigarette lighter socket to provide the extra air flow needed to stay cool. These DC fans are great for use in truck cabs, but are also great in cars and RVs. Some can also be battery operated fans for use in tent camping. Staying cool is a little easier with a 12V fan in your truck.

Winter provides the exact opposite problem for most. Although not everyone gets snow in the winter months, the temperatures are normally colder during the day and freezing during the night. When staying warm is a must, a portable heater might be just the answer. 12 volt heaters also plug into the cigarette lighter socket. These heaters are great for warming small areas such as sleeper cabs, RV bedrooms, or cars. They can also be used to defrost windows on cold winter mornings. Some of these 12V heaters are a combination heater and fan to ensure comfort in all seasons. While these little heaters are convenient, running them for an extended period of time while the vehicle is off is not recommended. Buying a 12 volt bunk warmer or electric blanket is a great idea to ward off the cold on chilly summer nights or bitter cold winter nights.

With more and more states passing no idle laws, truckers are forced to find alternate ways to stay warm or cool while in their truck. There are truck stops available with IdleAire technology. This technology is provided to allow truckers to keep a comfortable temperature in their truck and not have to idle. This is only available in about 34 of the 50 states though. Not idling reduces noise, engine wear, and saves on gas prices, but it also provides a challenge to truckers. There are many 12 volt products available to help make life a little easier, but when using 12V power, always take the battery into consideration.

The last thing you want happening is to wake up from a great night of sleep, only to find your truck won’t start. There are battery guards available to help insure your battery will have enough juice to start. They work by suspending power to all 12 volt items plugged in when the battery levels get low. Although not 100% guaranteed, they are reliable and sure beat staying up all night to shut the items off on your own. Living life on the road can be a hassle, but 12 volt appliances help make it a little easier.

As you explore different parts of India in your Indian vacation, you will also come to know how rich and diverse Indian cuisine is. Pat Chapman says that “Indian food is as complex as all its other attributes.” They are classified into different categories: cereals, legumes, vegetables, fruits, spices, milk products, animal meats, and alcoholic beverages. Religion and geography play major roles in the food habits of Indians.

Spices are the heart and soul of Indian cooking. The spices used in Indian cooking are dried seeds, berries, bark, rhizomes, flowers, leaves, and chilies. These may be dried or fresh, pods or seeds, roasted, ground or put into hot oil to expel their flavors. A combination of spices is called as masala. All Indian food is served with either rice or bread, or a combination of two.

Food is served on a banana leaf or a stainless steel. South Indian early settlers began the use of banana leaves as serving plates. During feasts, only the end section is used with its narrow part facing left.

Indian food has always been eaten with the right hand. In the south all parts of the fingers can be used, like a scoop. In the north this is considered vulgar and only the tips of the fingers are used, with bread used as the scoop. The first mouthfuls of rice are eaten with chutney and spicy additives while the Indian end to a meal is the betel leaf. The leaf is chewed along with a slice of areca nut, a dab of slaked lime and a smear of katha paste. Washing the hands before meals is an important ritual since most Indians use their fingers in eating.

In Kashmir, among the most popular dishes are lamb marinated in yogurt, mutton simmered in milk and scented with nutmeg, and rich meat curries. Kashmiran foods has subtle blend of spices, richness and pungency. Goa, a tiny state on the Arabian Sea is known for their use of vinegar and kokum fruit and love of chilies. Bengali cuisine is the only region in India where food is served in individual courses – elaborate and refined. This way of serving food is based on the ancient belief of eating that promotes healthy digestive process.

In Rajasthan, a popular millet porridge called Bhajra Khichadi are often eaten with pure ghee. Raj’s food has yielded dishes that pay homage to their ancestors like spiced chutneys and curries. The first Christian is said to have set his foot of Kerala in 52 AD and his converts are known as Syrian Christians. They eat spicy offal, chicken, fish, shellfish, beef and wild boar. Other dishes known to them are Erachi Olathiathu or beef dry-fried with a paste of coconut and spices, Vevichathu Surnai or Keralan soured fish curry.

There is so much gastronomic discovery you will enjoy in your Indian vacation. No other cuisine uses as many spices in so many ways than Indian. For them, it is in the use of spices that they bring out the dormant flavors of a dish. The greatest numbers of spices are used in North India.

Dishes like rogan josh or aromatic meat curry with a creamy gravy with ginger, garlic, onions, red chillies, coriander leaves, saffron, black pepper, asafetida, black cumin seeds, cumin powder, cardamom leaves, cloves, cinnamon sticks, poppy seeds, turmeric powder, chili powder, paprika, nutmeg powder, mace powder, and more.

Sialkot District or the District of Sialkot, is one of the localities of the Punjab province of Pakistan. It is established in the north-east of the province.[2] The town of Sialkot is the capital of the district.[3]

The famous annals of the District is attached with Raja Salivahan, the reputed founder of the town of Sialkot, and his well renowned child Rasalu. Pasrur is furthermore an very vintage place. At an early designated day the District dropped to the Rajas of Jammu, and under the Mughals formed the Rechna Doab sarkar of the Subah of Lahore. Under Shah Jahan the sarkar was entrusted to Ali Mardan Khan, the well renowned technician, who cut into a canal through it to articulate water from the Chenab stream to the imperial flower beds in Lahore.

On the down turn of the Mughal domain Ranjit Singh Deo, a Rajput high ground head, expanded his sway over the lowlands, owning a nominal allegiance to Delhi. In 1748 he moved his allegiance to Ahmad Shah Durrani, who supplemented Zafarwal and two other parganas to his fief. Before his death in 1773 Ranjit Deo had protected ownership of the entire District, except the Sialkot town and its dependencies, which were held by a Pathan family.[4]

After his death the Bhangi confederacy of the Sikhs took Sialkot from the Pathans, and eventually overran the entire homeland up to the base of the Jammu high grounds, dividing up it amidst a tally of leaders. These petty States were, although, adhered by Ranjit Singh in 1791 ; and his annexation of Pasrur in 1807 provided him command of the tract, after his general, Diwan Mohkam Chand, had beaten the Sardars of Sialkot at Attari.[4]

During the Indian Rebellion of 1857 the position was denuded of British troops; and the Native regiments which were left behind increased, and, after dismissing the jail, treasury, and guideline court, and massacring some of the European inhabitants, marched off in the direction of Delhi, only to be decimated by Nicholson at Trimmu Ghat.

The rest of the Europeans took refuge in the outpost, and on the forenoon after the escape of the rebels alignment was restored. The only events of interest in the subsequent annals of the District are the plague riots which appeared at the villages of Shahzada and Sankhatra in 1901.[4]

Numerous mounds are dispersed about the District, which assess the sites of very vintage villages and towns. None of them, except that on which the Sialkot outpost stood, has been excavated, but shiny and copper utensils and coins have been cut into up from time to time by villagers.

Most of the coins are those of Indo-Bactrian kings. The excavations in Sialkot disclosed the reality of some vintage bathing tubs, with hot-water pipes of solid masonry. The outpost itself, of which very leather cutting machine little now continues, is not more than 1,ooo years vintage, and is said to have been rebuilt by Shahab-ud-din Ghori at the end of the twelfth century.[4]

In 1859, Gurdaspur, Amritsar and Sialkot were put in the new partition of Sialkot. But in 1884, Gurdaspur along with Amritsar afresh became a part of the Lahore Division.

According to the 1901 census the locality had a community of 1,083,909 and comprised 7 villages and 2,348 villages. The community at preceding three enumerations were: 1,004,695 (1868), 1,012,148 (1881) and 1,119,847 (1891).

The community declined between 1891-1901 by 3.2, [4] the decline being utmost in the Raya tahsil and least significant in Daska. The Chenab Colony was to blame for this drop in community, no less than 103,000 individuals having left to take land in the freshly irrigated tracts.[5]

The locality was subdivided into five tehsils namely: Sialkot, Pasrur, Zafarwal, Raya and Daska. The head villages of the localities were Daska, Jamki, Pasrur, Kila Sobha Singh, Zafarwal and Narowal.[5]

As per Punjab Development Statistics for the year 2000, the community of beef cattle, buffaloes, sheep and goats was 195, 471, 42 and 137 1000 heads respectively. For poultry, there were 954 broiler, 134 grade and 9 breeding poultry ranches, having a rearing capability of 11150, 747 and 63 1000 birds respectively.

Christmas day in Rome has got to be special and it was. We started our day with a walking tour which commenced at the Spanish Steps. They were beautifully decorated and at the top afford a wonderful view out over Rome. At the bottom of the stairs is the boat fountain by Bernini and the start of the most exclusive shopping street in Rome, the Via Condotti.

From here we passed the Colombo dedicated to the immaculate conception on our way to the Trevi Fountain. When in Rome this visit is a must and they say when you throw your two coins in that one coin will fulfill a wish and the other will ensure you return to Rome one day. I have never seen it with such few people which was fantastic.

Next stop on our walking tour was Piazza Navona via the Pantheon. Piazza Navona is famous for the Four Rivers Fountain by Bernini which has just finished a three year restoration and is looking fantastic. Time in Rome’s Christmas markets here around Piazza Navona before walking across the Tiber river for a great view of St Peter’s on our way to see the Pope.

For readers of Angels & Demons by Dan Brown fans it is a treat to walk past Castle St Angelo on the way. If you haven’t read this novel put it on your list for an entertaining holiday read.

When in Rome on Christmas day it would be a shame to miss the blessing by the Pope, regardless of your religious beliefs. The Pope is one of the worlds most powerful and influential people and the atmosphere in the square is quite electric.

Back to the coach for a drive around Rome on our way past Circus Maximus of Ben Hur fame, on our way to the Colosseum. Built in the first century AD it is remarkably preserved and stands at the edge of the Forums of Rome. Time to marvel at this historic monument before making our way past the Baths of Caracalla on our way to St Pauls Outside the Walls. This is one of the most spiritual places you will ever visit and always takes my breath away.

An afternoon siesta at the hotel and we are ready for Christmas Dinner and what a night it was with some great entertainment, great food and a little audience participation. This evening always makes for some great photos. We swapped presents and enjoyed everyones company.

The government on Friday said airlines have assured that they would maintain fares at last week’s level, amid the deadlock over talks between Jet Airway’s management and its pilots to end the 4-day stir which has seen other carriers charging excessive ticket rates.

In our meeting today with airlines, we reiterated that airlines must ensure that they maintain airfares what they were 4-5 days back. They must also reschedule flights on routes which have much more demands, Civil Aviation Secretary M M Nambiar told reporters after emerging from a meeting with six airlines here.

The airlines have assured the government that they would maintain the airfares at last week’s level and also reschedule the flights on high-demand sectors, he added.

In a letter to airlines, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation last night had asked the airlines to charge fares at last week’s level from stranded passengers of Jet Airways whose pilots are on a mass sick leave to protest the sacking of two of their colleagues.

Jet Airways on an average is cancelling 200 flights every day since the pilots went on sick leave from Tuesday. Media reports said following strike by Jet pilots, other carriers were charging an average of Rs 9,000-10000 for Mumbai – Delhi route, while some are even charging up to Rs 15,000 per seat.

Nambiar added that the government has been receiving complaints that air carriers are raising fares after Jet pilots’ agitation, which is a matter of great concern to us and not acceptable.

Protesting sacking of their colleagues, Jet pilots continued to be on mass sick leave for the fourth day today, leading to an average cancellation of 200 flights every day

Before going in the deep about the clearance procedure of Criminal Records Bureau [CRB], let’s put a glance on the brief of this agency. The Criminal Records Bureau acts under the strict guidance of the executive agency of the home office to make an easy access to the criminal records for the employment purpose in the organizations and companies. The guidelines are made to observe the indulgence of volunteers and employees over the age of 18, in any criminal conviction or court order.CRB offers an innovative and enhanced disclosure service to the employers to enable them to check whether an employee is a successful candidate and suitable for the particular post. It also prevents any need to disqualify the candidate in the light of any conviction. One of the best advantages of the CRB is that it executes an opportunity to employers to cross check the criminal records for implementing a better decision making process and sensitive resolutions while choosing the persons for the perceptive jobs.

Now let’s discuss the criteria of getting the CRB clearance. The first thing that should be noticed that asking the unnecessary levels of CRB clearance is an offence. Researchers are advised to check the necessity of clearance in the very beginning stage of the subsequent application. There is different level of clearance exist in the CRB procedure. Standard disclosure put focus on spent and unspent convictions under the rehabilitation of Offenders act. The act equips the elaborated study of cautions and warnings issued. They also make a stern check of DfES and DH records.

Unlikely in advanced disclosure, police CRB checks are included. All the clauses in this disclosure are the same except the clause that allow local police authorities to check the CRB clearance procedure. An applicant who needs to acquire a CRB clearance must fill the prescribed application form to fill-in the specific personal details of an individual that is to be verified with the CRB. The disclosure is then sent to the organizations for further verification at the organizational levels. Enhanced disclosure is used in a case when the employer agency works with children or vulnerable adults.
